Research Impact & Significance -The lab in which I am a part of utilizes the fruit fly- Drosophila Melanogaster- as a powerful tool to study important genetic and biological processes such as cancer. This image displays the result of extensive multilayer tumor growth in the fly’s egg chamber cells. This research significantly improves our understanding of cancer and other relevant diseases suffered by humans, while demonstrating the usefulness of modern genetics research.
