Research Impact & Significance – Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have the potential to be a low-cost alternative to traditional solid-state solar cells. My research focus on synthesizing a series of anthracene derivatives as dyes, incorporate them into the bilayer film and measure emission and cross surface energy migration, which is important to the DSSCs’ efficiency in converting solar energy into electricity. This image is of a column chromatography of one dye solution spraying from the tip of the column. When placed under ultraviolet they will emit a beautiful sapphire light.
